How MixMaxer syncs with Shopify, and when to press Re-sync
What is written where, why one change re-syncs everything, and the errors you might see.
MixMaxer keeps three things in Shopify up to date: a storefront metafield with every live offer (read by the widgets), one automatic app discount per offer (read by the discount Function), and, for bundles, the hidden parent products and the cart transform metafield.
- Every save, publish, pause, reorder or delete triggers a full sync: the metafield, every discount (because priorities decide what each discount may price) and the bundles.
- Re-sync with store (dashboard) does the same on demand and also removes orphaned MixMaxer discounts left behind by interrupted deletes.
- A failure is stored on the offer (“Sync failed” chip, dashboard banner with Shopify's message) and retried on the next sync.
Typical messages
- “Discount Function not found”: the app version on the store is being updated; try again in a minute.
- “Discount does not exist” / “Owner does not exist”: something deleted the discount or cart transform in Shopify; MixMaxer recreates it automatically on the next sync.
- “Access denied”: a permission was added in an app update; open the app once in the admin to approve it, then Re-sync.
