Frequently bought together: automatic suggestions from your orders
How suggestions are learned, fallback picks, the extra discount, and why some products never appear.
Frequently bought together shows two to four products next to the main one with an “Add all to cart” button and, optionally, a discount on the extras. It sits next to a pricing offer on the same product without competing with it.
Where suggestions come from
- Automatic: every order teaches MixMaxer which products were bought together (only product IDs are stored). The products most often bought with the main one are suggested, refreshed each time the offer is saved or Re-sync is pressed.
- Fallback picks: while there is not enough order history, the products you pick are shown. As real data arrives they are pushed out automatically; you never have to switch modes.
- Manual: exactly the products you choose, in that order.
Creating one
- Offers › Create offer › Frequently bought together.
- Applies to: the main product(s). Suggestions appear on their product pages.
- Source: Automatic or Manual. Pick fallback / manual products (up to 4).
- Suggestions to show (1 to 4) and the discount on suggested items: percent or amount off each, 0 = no discount.
- Publish.
How the discount works
The discount applies to the suggested products only while the main product is in the cart. It is an add-on: it combines with a volume tier on the main product, and it never blocks other offers.
Common problems
The widget is empty / hidden on the product page.
No usable suggestion: no order history yet and no fallback picks, or the picks are gift cards or sold out. Add fallback products.
Suggestions do not change after new orders.
They are refreshed when the offer is saved or Re-sync is pressed, not on every order. Press Re-sync.
A suggestion I do not want keeps showing.
Switch to Manual, or keep Automatic and remove the product from the store's sale for that period; automatic mode reflects what customers actually buy.
